A vibrant Austrian iridescent glass vase attributed to Loetz, marked "L / Sterling" (trademark for La Pierre), ground pontil marked "41"

The vase exhibits an exaggerated bulbous body with a tapered neck and flared rim finished in silver, the body with a beautifully engraved silver overlay of leaves and berries on a vine continuing around in a circular presentation.

The silver firm of La Pierre was founded in 1889 in New York City and Newark, New Jersey and manufactured silver objects and novelties. Their signature can be found on many Bohemian art glass objects of the period with their elaborate Art Nouveau silver applieques.

Condition: Glass in apparently fine condition. Tiny chip beside the ground pontil. One small leaf replaced (lower leaf beside some berries); stem of one berry cluster repaired and reattached at some point; one upper berry replaced or reattached. Tarnish to the silver.
