Description
Large Bronze Sculpture Model of The Harvester after Mathurin Moreau (French, 1822-1912), Patinated bronze in reddish-brown and golden tones; signed in base Math. Moreau. A finely cast figure of a young rural laborer sharpening his scythe against a rocky outcrop, with gathered hay at his side. Richly detailed throughout, the model features crisply rendered facial features, articulated fingers and toes, and textured garments. Executed with careful chiseling and seamless construction, it retains a striking reddish-brown patina with golden highlights and burnished surfaces. 31 3/4 H x 13 base diameter
