Description
English Victorian Parcel-Gilt Ebonized Turned Column Pedestal ca. 1860-80. This useful and tasteful Victorian period sculpture pedestal features an overall nearly black ebonized surface with gilded fluting around the column and base and repeating incised gilded designs. Probably English, circa 1860-80. 38 5/8 H x 11 7/8 diameter.
Condition: Light rippling to the top from shrinkage/expansion of the grain over time; shrinkage cracks along the pedestal throughout; finish wear, chipping, discoloration and use indicators throughout; sturdy and strong.
