Description

American Empire / Late Classical Mahogany and White Marble Pier Table, Circa 1830-1850.

A lovely example from the first half of the 19th century, this pier table is designed to be viewed from any angle, making it suitable for placement beside a chair or sofa. The gray-spotted white marble floats over a bold cove-molded apron dressed in flamed mahogany veneers raised on four opposing C-scroll legs over a base of cupid’s bow scrolling feet joined with ring-and-baluster turned stretchers. A very attractive patina in the very dark early surface.

32 5/8 H x 19 1/2 D x 27 1/2 W

Condition: Old finish with scuffs, abrasions and discolorations as expected. Significant discoloration to the scrolled stretchers. Some white paint marks here and there. Breaks at the ankles of two C-scrolls with screw repairs to both. Relatively stable though with some wiggle inherent in the design. Marble top presents with minor grime.
