Description
Primitive American Red-Painted Hall Bench, 19th century in early paint. A cottage-made American Primitive hall bench retaining its early and likely original red-painted surface, the outward splayed legs set into battens dovetailed into the underside of the bench, stretched with a triangulated stretcher. Circa mid-19th century. 18 1/2 H x 12 5/16 D x 63 1/4 W
Condition: Extensive wear throughout, loss of paint, chipping and losses, dry rot to feet and elsewhere. Seems sturdy enough for most uses.
