Description
American Red Painted Dovetailed Blanket Chest on Turned Feet, mid-19th century. A red-painted poplar blanket chest with dovetailed case, turned feet, and molded edge lid. Retains its original turned feet and interior till. Fitted with steel hinges and what appears to be the original lock; includes working key. Nice early surface. 24 1/2 H x 21 3/8 D x 44 1/2 W
Condition: Wear and discoloration, rubbing to the finish of the top throughout, bright spot to the top, rubbing wear to all feet. Finish appears to be early and probably original (subtle alligatoring, no evidence of earlier underlayer).
